Foundation For Community Development Association (FCDA) Cameroon is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and improving the well-being of communities across Cameroon. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities through various programs and initiatives aimed at addressing pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges.
FCDA commenced activities as far back as 2017, headquarters in Limbe, South West Region of Cameroon at the wake of the political turmoil which plagued the Northwest and South West regions of Cameroon. As a result, there was a call by group of friends to fundraise for the provision of emergency assistance to those who were displaced and vulnerable population. Through our diverse programs and initiatives, including Diaspora support, FCDA strives to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve. With a focus on food security, climate action, emergency relief, peace and reconciliation, capacity building, health, technology, and Diaspora engagement, we aim to address the multifaceted challenges facing communities in Cameroon.
In 2022, FCDA through the Acumen University, formed a systems practice team and the systems challenge was Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) in Cameroon amid being a minority, they suffer and lack access to basic human needs and other tools to upgrade their lives. Notably; food insecurity, lack of IT tools, violence, unemployment, inadequate access to water, sanitation and hygiene services, housing issues. IDPs sufferings has exacerbated the situation as they have engaged into prostitutions, high rate of alcohol consumption, violence and crime waves.
The Guiding Star of the framework is to have a coordinated community response towards IDPs issues centered around diversity, equality and equity.
Our Near Stars being framed into the following.
Civil society organizations such as professional organizations, Indigenous groups, community groups, faith-based organizations, foundations, diaspora, and labour unions advocate and/or advance for awareness and solutions to IDPs issues.
Non-governmental organizations working in the issue work collaboratively and coordinately to address IDPs issues to maximize their impact, dilute their efforts and generate traction for funding.
Government and civil society work towards policies to address IDPs issues.
Our systems map revealed that history of colonization, existing policies, laws and regulations are not inclusive as well as lack of trust in institutions.
